This is a repeat of the Yahoo message. So for those of you that read the Yahoo list and the website too - yes, you are seeing double!
I neglected to mention in the original blog posting that I need everyone interested in the Critique Groups to fill in a Critique Application form. This will help me to better organize and schedule things. If you have not already filled in a form, please do so.
Go to Files in the Yahoo side menu and from the folders listing, select 2011 Membership. The application is in there. Fill it out and email to me sometime before the 27th.
First - I want to thank all of you for being so patient - or making other
arrangements - as far as crit groups. I've given this a lot of thought and have
come up with the following solution.
There will be 5 groups formed - North, South, East, West, and Online.
Each group meets once and determines:
1. Meeting schedule
2. What they will be doing at the meetings
3. Homework assignments
4. Whatever else works for them
The North group will meet near the Church.
The South group will meet near Park Meadows Mall.
The East group will meet near Stapleton.
The West group will meet in Arvada.
The Online group will meet twice - once in the morning and once in the evening.
To see how many members are interested in these group RIGHT NOW, and what time
would best fit the most members - please email me offline at
email@example.com and let me know which group would be most convenient for
you to attend and the times you are available. Right now I'm looking at meeting
on Saturday, August 27th or Sunday, August 28th (afternoon only).
There are no hard and fast rules to this. Anyone who is interested in a critique
partner or critique group may attend any one of the meetings at any time.
After a while, I'm sure there will be some splinter groups form on their own.
That's what I'm planning for. You all know what you need - and instead of
matchmaking, as Crit Group Coordinator I'm just going to facilitate you finding
what you need and let you make your own groups.
I will need at least 3 assistants to help facilitate the groups. Anyone want to
help out and volunteer?
