Welcome to Colorado Romance Writer's website!
The year is now on its downward slide. How did that happen so quick? It seemed like only yesterday I was ruminating on what to write as a welcome.
And here we are. Vacations are nearing the end, and kids are back in school. The dog days of summer are nearly done, with their hot, clear days cooling off more and more now and turning into our beautiful summer nights. I love those temperature swings - it's one of the reasons I live here in Colorado.
Snow can come to the high country any day now. I know it's hard to believe we're already in that time of year. The year has just flown by and brought with it many, many good things.
Remember our checklist from earlier? How many items are you able to tick off that list?
Did you finish your manuscript or find an agent? Perhaps you submitted to a publisher after pitching at our May or August Mini-cons? How about a website, or maybe a Twitter account?
Did you finish one item? Two? None?
Never fear! Colorado Romance Writers is filled with writers just like you!
Some of our members are beginners just starting out. We have more experienced writers that are primed for publication. We also have as members that have just signed their first publication contract, and some that have four or five (or more!) published novels under their shiny, jewel-encrusted belts.
Talk about diversity! We are truly fortuitous to have such a wealth of knowledge and experience among our members.
On the second Saturday of each month we gather to enjoy the company of other romance authors. We share our conquests and our rejections. We share the latest industry news and offer advise and guidance on making it as a romance author.
To quench our desire to learn, CRW members enjoy quality monthly programs to work on our craft. From running a book business, to getting to the heart of your characters, and how to pen a spectacular start to your novel, CRW's monthly programs help you learn how to write the best book you can and be the best writer you can be.
CRW also hosts a series of Online Workshops every month. These workshops are available to anyone, anywhere in the world. As long as you have an internet connection, you can learn something on the craft of writing. The best news is - CRW members get a nice discount on their class registration.
In 2015, we had two successful Mini-conferences. In May, Liz Pelletier taught us all about three-pass editing, and kept us in stitches. She can tell a great story! Then in August, Angela James taught us about branding, and introduced us to a new concept: Kamikaze reads. Amazingly informative, this new style of critiquing is one of the best I've ever come across.
To celebrate romance novels, CRW runs the prestigious the Award of Excellence contest for published novels. We just finished the 2015 contest, and are regrouping to plan the upcoming 2016 contest, slated to kick off in the fall.
But CRW is not all about business and learning. We know how to play, too. From our weekend writing retreat, to our anniversary party/romance lovers tea, and our holiday potluck, we pull out all the stops to enjoy spending time with fellow romance novelists. We have a motto:
Together, We Can!
And we do.
Take a look around our website and see what CRW is up to this week! Better yet, for those that haven't already, join us and become that writer you always wanted to be!
2015 President, Colorado Romance Writers
We've all dun it. Missspeled a word, or three. Forgot word in a sentence. Sliced and diced grammar rules. Even looked at a typo and faiiled to see it. For all of us, here some guidelines.

The fact that CRW members don't interact much on our website was recently mentioned to me. That's true. We're pretty quiet in here. But we don't need to be. This website has many capabilities that are underutilized and even some that aren't utilized at all.
To help change that - I decided to do a series of blog posts to introduce you all to the capabilities of our website. Also, I had the idea to start up some new groups, resurrect some existing groups, and get…Continue
Our 2013 AOE finalists will be announced at the Saturday, April 13th meeting! We're really excited to share this year's finalists, and may have a VERY pleasant surprise for a CRW member or two who entered the contest.
Hopefully everyone can be there. We've got a great program with Courtney Milan, and book reading from a new author. So it proves to be a great day!
Speaking for my fellow Coordinators Aimee, Tiffany, and Jen, I say we all hope to see you…Continue
